Global demand for natural gas-fueled power is projected to grow by 1.6% per year for the next several years, with consumption reaching nearly 4,000 billion cubic meters (bcm) by 2022, up from 3,630 bcm in 2016. China alone will account for 40% of this demand growth. Meanwhile, renewable energy sources accounted for 84% of all new global power generation capacity installed in 2018, growing most in Europe, North America and Oceania.
To meet this accelerating demand and supply the world with sustainable, less carbon-intensive power, advanced class gas turbines (ACGTs) are filling the need. Customer demand for this cleaner, affordable, and reliable turbine technology is already strong and growing further — accounting for 40% of all global turbine orders in 2018. Their improved fuel efficiency and advanced combustion systems reduce carbon emissions. They also produce a large amount of power for their footprint, offering cheaper project costs and low electricity rates for consumers.
